Black necked grebes











In over nearly 40 years of birding I’ve only seen a few black necked grebes all in winter plumage 

Today I saw 8 all in breeding plumage stunning birds 

Also 3 Cetti’s warblers and a sand martin 

Great place swillington

Pic 2 is a stunner Darrell. We used to see them annually on all of our coastal ponds on passage in May and we had 40 pairs breeding on an inland water where they have now sadly moved on, such is their nature. One year I had 30 odd Black necked and one Slavonian all in full summer plumage in beds of water lillies. What a sight...
