gulling at redcar tarn sunday

i must have taken over 800 photos in 3 hours before my fingers froze , but its a great site especially when the locals just drive and feed the ducks, if the ducks are fed so are the gulls and theres lots of them

caspian gull

3rd winter

classic shape and primary pattern white head with shawl

caspian gull

2nd winter

pale head and underwing

long tongue and mirror on p10

narrow tail band

many thanks to lou salomon for confirmation and educational notes

"2cy Caspian Gull. long white rectangular ended tongue to p10, p10 mirror (pretty rare in 2nd cycle HGs and almost impossible in YLG), small oval eye, pointed bill tip. the pretty narrow tail band actually is not so common for this age class in cachinnans - but possible."

this next one has me stumped

no obvious wing flash, grey mantle, white head

all good fun
