went over to flambourgh with nick d for the king eider which would of been good but the eider was miles away and a sea fret came in. texts from rare bird alert indicated that a big movement of birds was going on across the country, including across halifax with whimbrel and sanderling been seen(what was at the 'with'?) it came as no surprise when a dotterel was found at soil hill,so at 1600 we set off back to calderdale .arrived at 1800 and walked up to the hill the track was covered with dog shit.1805 got the bird a cracking male(i think) and very tame.
well the first lamb of the season a few daffodils have appeared, yes spring comes late at 1500ft! birdwise its still very quiet though 3 swallows flew north and skylark singing continued the spring feeling.
