 2 flocks this morning going over the flat around 0220 calling 

for such an urban place ive recorded

perfect day out

 green withens was a nice start to the day........sunny but still minus 1 😰 

as usual it threw a curve ball with a robin at the boat yard

a small group of gulls went east

the pumphouse had just one twite

quite a few red grouse calling and buzzing the moor

birds,beer and bear

started saturday with a short walk around fairburn ings visitor center........arrived at 8 am so to miss the crowds 


very nice had the place to myself perfect

and 3 spoonbills on the moat and willow tit 

 then onto st aidens 


went to look for the med gull and as the causeway is still flooded had to go the long way round.......spent 30 minutes at the rabbit warren but no sign but did see 2 very nice cettis warblers ,

then walked to astley lake just the usual 

the final walk back to the van resulted in 12 black necked grebes a rather nice walk

i headed to green withens but it was windy and knew the boats woud be out so off the royd

working and birds spring has sprung

working outside does have its advantages

happy

 started off at swillington 


still couldnt find the med gull or hear any bitterns but a nice walk

plus the usual ducks and stuff

then on to my love hate realtionship with wheldrake but 2 redhead smew were my first in many years and some nice golden plover flying around 


blacktoft sands was ok but quiet, with most of the water empty but still enjoyable with

weekend of nothing

 very quiet birdwise this weekend 


i went to swillington saturday morning but the wind was too fresh and cold for my ageing bones 

a few cettis warblers singing and a good selection of ducks my heart wasnt in it, and trudged around a bit bored

went looking for stuff for the upcoming trip to scotland 

and as usual chilled out on the decking with a very nice fire pit, pizza and newcastle brown.....lovely
