elland gp goosander

with the car stuck due to 2 inches of ice on the road, meaning i cannot get anywhere unless on foot.i took a walk to elland gp today.
a few years back upto 90 goosander's used to winter here, but now only around 20.
a shame as they are a smart duck.they are a bit shy but they make for great shots.

The big freeze :)

Worst I've got is a screenwash pump that refuses to work anymore.

Goosanders winter and breed in small numbers along the Wansbeck here but a bird you never tire of seeing. Lovely shots.

Only kidding Darrell - did do a U-turn at Wykeham when going for the great grey shrike on Wednesday. The main access road into the forest was very poor snow & ice wise, so didn't really fancy the forest track.

The Zafira is OK for packing the kids into - worst car I've ever had in snow.

The Goosander is a beautiful bird when you get a good sighting. Nice shots Darrel.
Weather has not been too bad here this last week (frrezing cold though, far end of the forest apparently no way>
